Obituary for Eduardo Ruffner-Arizmendi

Mr. Eduardo Ruffner-Arizmendi died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, NY after a hard fought battle with cancer for the last 10 years. He was 35.

Eduardo was born in Agua Trieta, Mexico on July 30, 1977, the son of Josephina Arizmendi and Monroe Stephens Ruffner. He immigrated to the United States when he was 17 years old, living in Bernardsville, Bridgewater, and Basking Ridge before moving to Gillette 3 years ago.

He attended Raritan Community College and the DeVry Institute studying Computer networking, and started his own contracting business Ruff’s Painting.

Eduardo served in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves for 6 years, decorated in Rifle Marksmanship and as a Field Artillery Cannon Crewman. He loved serving his country and was extremely dedicated to this honor.

He was passionate about computers, camping and fishing, and enjoyed skiing and going to the beach. Most important he was a devoted and loving father and husband.

IHe is survived by his wife of 8 years Carrie (Vreeland) Ruffner, twin children Abigail Jacqueline and Alexander Stephens, his parents Josephina and Monroe Ruffner, 2 brothers Juan and Stephens, and 2 sisters Africa and Mary Lousia.

A Religious Service at Somerset Hills Lutheran Church, 350 Lake Ave., Basking Ridge, NJ, will be celebrated at 5:00 pm on Sunday, January 27th, with Rev. Robert Kuppler officiating. Visitation will be Sunday 1-3 pm at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ.

Interment will be Friday February 1, 2013 at Somerset Hills Memorial Park on Mt. Airy Rd in Basking Ridge at 9:30 AM.
