Obituary for Mary A Kearns

Mary Kearns passed away Friday October 7, 2016 at Memory Care Living in Green Brook, NJ.
Mary was born and raised in upstate, Churchville, NY. After the onset of WWII she followed her brother and sister into the Armed Services. Joining the US Navy WAVES, Mary met LT (jg) Joseph Kearns while she was stationed in Solomons, MD. They were married in 1946. Mary and Joseph eventually settled in Millington, NJ and raised four children.
Mary was always an active volunteer in the community. She was a charter member of the Long Hills Township Rescue Squad, serving for more than 20 years. Her proudest moment was delivering the first baby born in the new ambulance. Mary was also involved in the Girl Scouts at the troop level as well as in the Morris area council.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 2003 and by her siblings Peter, Ann, Teresa, John and Charles. Her beloved sister Ester, lives in Jenkintown, PA. Mary is survived by her children and their spouses Susan and her husband George Dealaman, Katie Kearns and her husband Larry Rakos, Jeff and his wife Meridith, and Steve and his wife Lisa. Mary enjoyed her grandchildren Jeff Dealaman and his wife Karen, Kyle Dealaman and his wife Kristina, Spenser Kearns, Russell and Ruby Rakos, and Ryan and Bailey Kearns. Mary also has five great grandchildren.
Mary cherished the time she spent at the Long Hill Senior Center as well as her adventures with Joe and their friends in the Lions Club!
