Obituary for Raymond G Brandes

Raymond G. Brandes died October 18, 2016 in Colfax, NC. He was 93.
Raymond was born in Jersey City, NJ a son to the late Henrietta (Franke) and Godfrey Brandes. He lived in Meyersville since 1943 before moving to Colfax in 2003.
He was a US Army veteran serving in the Signal Corp. during WWII.
Raymond started work for Western Electric before being employed by Bell Telephone Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ where he worked for 43 years before retiring in 1984.
He was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul RC Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a Boy Scout Master for troop 59 and 156 in Long Hill Township, and was a member of the Long Hill Twp Senior Citizens. He was on the Board for Loundsberry Retirement Community housing, and the Long Hill Recycle Committee.

Raymond is survived by his wife Marian(Stoltz) Brandes of 70 years, 4 sons, Raymond and his wife Ruby Mae, Frederick and his wife Ginny, Steven and his wife Doreen, John and his wife Anne, 2 daughters Kathryn Brandes, and Nancy Moncrief, a sister Gladys Bjork, 12 Grandchildren and 9 Great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday October 23, 2016 from 2 – 4:40 pm and 7 – 9 pm at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday 10:00 AM from St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, Bebout Ave., Stirling, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Stirling.
