Condolence From: John and Marita
Condolence: To Lisa, Kristin, and Matt and all of Chris's family, it is with our deepest condolences to you and your families. Chris not only was my good neighbor but a great friend. Marita and I always enjoyed our backyard chats with Chris on house matters, neighborhood matters, or just life in general. I remember when Chris and Lisa moved into the Roller’s house next door to me. It was great to have someone my age move into the neighborhood. Chris was always there for my dad after my mom passed and would often see him outside smoking his cigar and stop and chat with him. Chris always had time for his neighbors as many of us will attest to, heck he worked on just about every house on the street. He was a true craftsman and coming from a master carpenter family, my Dad and Uncle would always say, "Chris is good, really good." He was a man that stood by his word and his integrity was second to none. Integrity not often found these days, but you could always count on Chris and his team to come through.
I watched his family begin and his kids grow up and become fine young adults. I always enjoy speaking with them. You can see the fine job Chris and Lisa did raising them in just a matter of seconds talking with them. Lisa is a fine person and is always there for her family. The last few years Chris has not been feeling well, but let me tell you about a situation before he went into the hospital. I had come home from work one evening and had issue breathing. Not sure of what it was but the next morning I needed to go to the hospital, the rescue squad was called and as I came out of the house heading to the ambulance there he was my friend Chris at the door asking me if I was alright and telling Marita if she needed anything to let him know. That evening after I returned I sent him a text to let him know I was okay, he responded and said that is good news. On another note, Chris always had time for our inquisitive Labrador Delilah who would often go visit him while he sat on his back patio relaxing. He always had time to give her some attention.
Chris has been called off to heaven too soon, now leaving this world God needed another Angel. Lisa, Kristin, and Matt he will always be looking down on you and keeping you safe.
Chris our good fiend you will be truly missed and you will live in our hearts forever. Until we meet again.
“May the road rise to meet you,
May the winds be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rain fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.”

Further down the road brother,
John and Marita

Condolence From: Sally Cadmus
Condolence: Dear Lisa, Kristin and Matt,

Our hearts are so heavy with sadness over the news of Chris' passing. His passion for life and his work are evident all around us. This whole block has Chris' personal stamp on it and how many people can say that? Our family has the distinctive honor of having a home that is literally a monument to Chris' talents, his vision and to his very big heart. When our house burned down almost 5 years ago, that day is a true blur and yet what stood out was when Chris came over to comfort and offer support to us. He gave me a hug and said, "I know this whole thing looks really bad right now Sally, but when this is over, you'll have a brand new house." I replied, "And I want YOU to be the one to build it." He accepted the challenge (no surprise there) and despite his dogging health issues, Chris, ever the perfectionist, saw to the most minute details from a hospital bed in Baltimore insisting that his crew take pictures and send them to him on his cell. Upon his return, he came out in sweltering heat (despite your protests Lisa and mine because it just wasn't wise for him to be out, period). Ever the hard head, he insisted on staying and even told me, "ya know, they were going to mess up framing the front of the house until I stopped them and made them change it." You just couldn't stop the man, he just kept going no matter what. In the end, we ended up with a beautiful house that when we moved back home, truly felt like HOME, but much, much better. This neighborhood is something special. Even when we don't see each other, we're all looking out for one another. I know in my heart that Chris is doing that right now, keeping permanent watch on the neighborhood, but most especially on his beloved family. In closing, I'd like to share one of Chris' expressions. Whenever I would see him in passing (and I'm sure others have heard this as well) I'd say, "hey, how are ya?" and his response would always be in that slow, laid back sort of way..."aw, ya know, just livin' the dream" ....and always with a smile.....

With much love and strength to you all,

The Cadmus Family

Condolence: We are so sorry to hear about this sudden loss. What a great loss to the community of Long Hill. If it wasn't for Chris and his crew we might be still living in a rental after Sandy. He had a heart and was good at his job. At least now he will finally rest in peace. Sympathies to his family, condolences from us.
