Eleanor Doris O'Connell died Monday January 16, 2017 in Morristown, NJ. She was 88.
Doris was born in Bloomfield, NJ on October 19, 1928 a daughter to the late Dorothy (Reynolds) and William Loughren, where she lived until moving to Stirling, NJ in 1995.
She was a graduate of Bloomfield High School class of 1946.
Doris married the love of her life, Richard P. in 1950, and was married for 55 years before he died in 2005.
Together they raised their 7 children: Kathleen O'Connell Heffernan and her husband William, Doris Nigro and her husband Joseph, Richard P. Jr. and his wife Maureen, William L. and his wife Carol, Charles, Kevin and his wife Eleanor, and Timothy and his wife Maria. She is survived by her sister Marilyn Whelan and her husband William, and all her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Frances Pyryt.
Doris worked as a bank teller for Midlantic Bank in Bloomfield, NJ for 25 years before retiring.
A woman of faith, she was a devout communicant of St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Stirling. She was an avid reader, and loved the Long Hill Twp Public Library.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday January 19, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Stirling. Interment will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Stirling. Arrangements are under the direction of the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, Gillette, NJ. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, Bebout Ave., Stirling or the Long Hill Twp Public Library 917 Valley Rd., Gillette.
