Ruth Rene' Phelan, known to all as Rene', 90, passed away peacefully at home on January 29, 2017.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Stirling, NJ on Saturday, February 4th at 11:AM. A reception will follow immediately afterward at the church hall.
Rene' was born in Muir, PA, graduated from Pennsylvania State University in dietetics, and there met and married Chuck Phelan, her husband of 68 years. They came to Millington, NJ, when it was a tiny village in 1956, where they raised 3 daughters and she was active in church and community, even until her passing.
Over the years, Rene' held many offices in the Stirling Presbyterian Church. She also was a devoted volunteer in Girl Scouts, Presbyterian Women, the Long Hill Township Historical Society, the Township's public library, the Republican Club, the Morris County Arboretum, Morris View Nursing Home, and the church’s Travnicek Memorial Bell Choir.
Rene' is survived by her husband, Chuck; daughters Susan Moser of Washington, PA, Donna McLain of Harrisburg, PA, and Barbara Glumac of Clinton, TN; grandchildren Micah, Christa, Tony, Samuel, Kristina, Tarla, Eleanor, and Alexander; great grandchildren Kaylen, Evan, Dominic, Kai, Charity, and Ethan; and 1 great great grandchild, Cayden.
