Obituary for Margaret A. "Maggie" Givens (Woodruff)


Margaret A. "Maggie" Givens (nee: Woodruff) died Sunday July 16, 2017 at her home in Gillette, NJ. She was 60.
Maggie was born in Plainfield, NJ a daughter to the late Lorraine Hilda (Nayder) and Henry Morgan Woodruff, where she lived moving to Piscataway for 5 years before living in Gillette since 1986.
She was a graduate of Plainfield High School, then received her RN degree at the Rutgers University School of Nursing in 1980. Maggie worked for many years as an Emergency Room Nurse, then became a homemaker to raise her children. She was most recently employed by the Long Hill Township board of Education as their school nurse for the last 11 years.
She volunteered for the Long Hill Township Citizen Corp and Medical Reserve Corp. She also taught CPR to Volunteers in Emergency Service.
Maggie was a member of the Somerset Hills Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband Larry W. Givens, 2 sons Paul L. and his wife Sarah, John M. and his wife Alison E., Her 3 daughters Rebecca J. and her husband Jim Duty, Amanda J. and Kristen A., 9 siblings Henry Jr. and his wife Susan, Ellen and her husband Stefan Eltgrothn, Thomas and his wife Barbara, Jane and her husband Keith Campbell, Janet and her husband Barry Kolb, Robert and his wife Eva Jane, Mary Hicks, Martha and her husband Bob Rath, and Ben and his wife Marie. She had 8 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday July 21, 2017 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. A Funeral Service will be on Saturday July 22, 2017 11:00 AM at the Fellowship Deaconry 3575 Valley Rd., Basking Ridge, NJ. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Mausoleum, 95 Mount Airy Rd., Basking Ridge, NJ. In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Long Hill Township First Aid Squad in memory of Maggie, which will be used for a new vehicle, 949 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ 07933.
