Obituary for Richard H. Clemens

Richard H. Clemens
Richard H. Clemens died Saturday January 23, 2018 at his home in Meyersville, Long Hill Township, NJ. He was 56.

Richard was born on March 24, 1961, in Morristown, NJ, a son to the late Dorothea A. (Glock) and Ralph F. Clemens, and has been a life long resident of Long Hill Township. He attended Watchung Hills Regional High School, graduating in 1979. While still a Senior, he began working the afternoon hours at FRC Electrical Industries (in New Providence) where he would become a Senior Manager, overseeing and helping coordinate all operations of the facility. The business became his life-long career.

Much of Richard's spare time was occupied in the restoring and modifying of older cars from the 1960's and earlier. One of them was the 1941 Willys Coupe. The passion for that car grew into piecing together a collection of toys and various other models of all sizes and colors. Other projects included Corvettes, Camaros, and even a Ford Model-A. He'd also attend and compete regularly at Car Shows in the surrounding area where he won numerous awards. His latest project, yet unfinished was a 1958 Nash Metropolitan being set up for racing, after having been modified with a V-8 engine.

Richard is survived by his four siblings: Martha who was predeceased by her husband William Egbert, Fred Clemens, Ted Clemens and his wife Becky, and Alice and her husband Doug Abbott. He had eight nieces and nephews, Will, Ralph, Ben, Addi, Peter, Meganne, Kristin, and Rebecca. He is also survived by six grand nieces and grand nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 2-3 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd. Gillette, NJ followed by a 3 PM service. Cremation was private.
