Obituary for Marie R Lamia

Marie R. Lamia (Romano) died Sunday January 28, 2018 at her home in Gillette, NJ. She was 91.
Marie was born in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late Elisabetta (Guarnieri) and Francesco Romano where she lived until moving to Gillette in 1996.
She was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in New York, NY and received her Bachelors degree from Hunter College, NY.
She was gifted with a beautiful voice and sang in her church choir for most of her life and was a requested soloist at weddings and funerals,
Marie was a communicant of St Rosalia-Regina Pacis Parish in Brooklyn, NY. While there she founded and was the teacher at Regina Nursery School. More recently she volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Stirling, NJ as a Lector.
Her principal focus was always her family. She was a devoted daughter, wife and mother.
She had a passion for travel especially to Italy. She enjoyed theater, opera and entertaining family and friends.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Mario J. Lamia in 2002 and her brother Joseph V. Romano.
She is survived by her son James J. Lamia and his fiance Kim Savettiere, and by her daughter Rosanne and her husband Robert Winn. She is also survived by her granddaughter Maria Lamia.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday January 31, 2018 at 10:00 AM from St. Vincent de Paul RC Church 250 Bebout Ave., Stirling. Interment will be at The Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY at 1:00 PM. For information and online condolences visit valleymemorialfuneralhome.net.
