Obituary for Robert Bernard "Bob" Lanner

Millington, NJ


Robert Bernard Lanner died peacefully at his home in Millington, NJ with his family by his side. He was 70.
Bob was born in Summit, NJ on August 9, 1948, a son to the late Eleanor (Corby) and Bernard Lanner. He grew up in Chatham Township before moving to Millington 45 years ago.
Bob was a graduate of Chatham Township High School class of 1966, the first graduating class of his high school. After graduation, Bob served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he worked as a Mechanic for Chatham Township Public Works in Chatham, NJ for 40 years before retiring in 2010.
Bob was an avid Antique Hot Rod enthusiast showing his Hot Rods in numerous car shows, and was a member of the "Rain or Shine Rodders" car club. He loved to craft in woodworking, making true art and furniture, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife Victoria H. (Glembocki) Lanner, 2 daughters Barbara K. and her husband Robert L. Streker, and Nancy K. and her husband John J. Dowd, a brother Richard D. Lanner and his sister Janice Castellano. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ryan and Emily Streker, and Lauren and Trevor Dowd. He had many loving nieces and nephews. A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday November 4, 2018 from 2 - 4 pm at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. Cremation was private.
