Vincent James Blenx died Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at his home in Stirling, NJ. He was 88.
Vincent was born in Newark, NJ a son to the late Antoinette (Zaffarano) and Nicola Blenx, living in South Orange before moving to Stirling 40 years ago.
He was a graduate of Seton Hall Prep and received his Undergraduate and Masters of Science from Newark College of Engineering where also continued as a Professor for many years. Vincent worked as a Civil Engineer for PSE&G in Newark, NJ for over 36 years retiring in 1995. He was the chief engineer in building the Salem Nuclear Generating Station in Salem County, and the Merrill Creek Reservation Damn in Hunterdon County. He served on the Planning Board and the Environmental Commission for Long Hill Township, was an avid supporter of the Friends of Great Swamp and the Raptor Trust Center in Millington, NJ. He loved to work in his yard, planting and replanting his trees, but most important was devoted to his family.
He was a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, Stirling.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter Melanie in 2001.
Vincent is survived by his wife Joan (Flynn) Blenx, 4 daughters Mary Alice and her husband John Muir, Annette and her husband Edward Hastie, Nicolette and her husband Robert Crescas, and Joanne Nimas, a son Vince Blenx and his wife Christine, a sister Josephine and her husband George Ilg. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren Michael, Ellen, Lauren, Kelly, Christopher, Cole, Rae, and Nicholas, and 7 great grandchildren Camryn, Dean, Christopher John "CJ", Chase, Alexis, Bradley and Mia.Visitation will be Monday April 22, 2019 from 4 - 7 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 23, 2019 at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, 250 Bebout Ave, Stirling, NJ. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ.
