Obituary for Alice M Schoenholz (Onners)

Alice Schoenholz died Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Parker Landing Nursing Care Residence in New Brunswick, NJ. She was 99 years old.

Alice was born in Seymour Ct, on March 2, 1920 the only child of the late Anna and Michael Onners. She grew up in the Bronx and distinguished herself as a social activist which earned her a full scholarship to Wellesley College.
After leaving college she took a post working for chemical warfare during which time she met Daniel Schoenholz, a research chemist and her future husband. After the war the couple moved to Queens, NY then Basking Ridge, NJ in 1969. She became a mother and homemaker.
Aside from serving in these roles, Alice was also known for her love of animals, at one point hosting over 25 finches in her home, as well as beloved dogs. She was an early advocate for civil rights speaking up vociferously as she saw fit.

Alice is survived by her two daughters, Judy and her husband Joe Holdren, Dr. Nancy Wolf and her husband Lawrence, and 2 grandsons Adam and Peter Wolf.

A Graveside Service will be April 25 at 2:00pm at Somerset Hills Memorial Park 95 Mount Airy Rd., Basking Ridge, NJ, at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ.
