Obituary for Marco D Santacross

Marco D. Santacross died Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Sunrise of Basking Ridge. He was 94. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and great grandfather.
He is survived by a sister, Mickalena (Mickey) Graziadio of Tucson, AZ, his daughters Rita Sharp of Wharton, NJ, Angel Kozlowski of Merrick, NY, and Linda Fielder of Buckingham, PA; his grandchildren, Michael, Lori, Aaron, Kimberly, Lisa, and Chad; his great grandchildren, Rachel, Emma, Sara, Owen, Finn, Harper, Kahlil, and Maceo; his nieces Connie, Lucille and Angie; and his nephews, Clemy and Michael.
Born in Plainfield, NJ in 1924, Marco bravely served his country in World War II, where he received the Silver Star of Valor during the Battle of the Bulge. He married the love of his life, Carmella (Millie) Franchina in October, 1950 and built a career at Harris Steel, where he assumed roles of increasing responsibility, eventually serving as foreman.
Marco was a long-time resident of Millington. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and traveling with Millie. He was a member and an usher at St. Vincent de Paul, Stirling. Always outgoing, his friends old and new could faithfully find Marco sitting on his porch, ready to greet them with a smile, anecdote, or the latest news. He also enjoyed social activities with the community at the Long Hill Senior Center and was part of the team who helped build the facility.
Visitation will be Thursday May 30, 2019 from 3 - 7 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, 12:00 PM At St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, Stirling. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge.
