Obituary for Mario Parisi Sr.

After a life that many would admire and a story all could understand Mario Vincent Parisi, Sr. passed away peacefully at Mt.Sinai in Manhattan , NY. He was 85.

Mario was born in Newark, NJ a beloved son to the late Angelina (Policastro) and Joseph Parisi, and a beloved brother to Matthew Parisi, Sr. He lived in Newark, prior to moving to Union, NJ, then moved to Gillette in 1984.

He was a graduate of East Side High School in the Ironbound section of
Newark , NJ.

Mario was a self-made success who passed his acumen for business to his two ( 2 ) sons. In the sixties he was a hair piece manufacturer, with factories in Italy and Hong Kong and 18 stores nationwide.
He expanded his import/ export knowledge to include wines from Europe. He launched a career as a landowner, developer and builder, a restaurateur, owned a horse farm in Colts Neck, NJ where he raised thoroughbred race horses. Mario Parisi was a true Renaissance man.

Most importantly, Mario was also a compassionate, generous man, helping everyone in need. He was a teacher, he taught life lessons to all that knew him. As busy as he was he even found time for little ones who he protected, making sure they were cared for and that they received his undivided attention.

His greatest pride and love, was his family which he natured and gave to throughout his life. He taught all his children to be independent thinkers and to know no hurdle was too steep to overcome. He also taught them to appreciate the lighter side of life, with a warm approving smile and a heartfelt laugh.

Far too great of a life to be covered in a few inches of newsprint... if you ever found yourself in his company you were invited to his parties and welcomed into his fold with arms opened to the best meal imaginable, and a place at the table that was filled with his family and friends.

It must be noted Mario was grateful to the Lord for all that was bestowed upon him . He was a parishioner of St Vincent de Paul in Stirling, previously of St Michael’s in Union, and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Newark, NJ.

His oldest son, Joseph Mario Parisi, predeceased him on April 27, of this year.
Mario Parisi passed on Joseph’s birthday.

Mario is survived by his loving wife Tolmina Amalia Parisi, his son, Mario Parisi, JR and his wife Sharon, his two daughters Angelina Pecora, Michele Lucia Menza, and her husband Dr. Vito Menza, Eight (8) grand children, Michele, Vito JR, Thomas , Michael, Gabrielle, Mario, Danielle, and Nicole .
