John T. Early died Friday January 10, 2020 in Madison, NJ. He was 90.
John was born in Syracuse, NY a son to the late Rhoda (Gray) and Francis Early. He was a graduate of Syracuse University class of 1951. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. John worked for various companies as a Chemical Engineer throughout the United States, and finished his career at Bell Labs in Murray Hill for 27 years before retiring in 1987. He moved to New Jersey in 1964 and resided in West Orange, Plainfield and Stirling, NJ.
John loved the outdoors enjoying skiing, hiking and skating.
He was an active parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Stirling, and a member of the choir and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 484, the VFW and the Long Hill Township Senior Citizens. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Morris County Division 1 and the Somerset County Division 1 chapters.
He was predeceased by his 8 brothers and sisters.
John is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Elizabeth "Libby" (Dowling) Early, and 38 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews and several great great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday January 15, 2020 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday January 16, 2020 at 10:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Stirling, NJ. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Martyr Cemetery, Madison, NJ.
