Obituary for Robert Michael Mikulyak

Robert Michael Mikulyak died Friday, April 17, 2020 at the Chelsea of Warren in Warren, NJ. He was 94.
Bob was born in Elizabeth, NJ on July 11, 1925, a son to the late Irene (Pavlek) and George Mikulyak, living in West Orange, NJ before moving to Stirling, NJ in 1955.
He was a graduate of West Orange High School and attended classes at Newark College of Engineering.
He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII.
Bob worked as a Research Lab Technician at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ where he was part of the team that invented and developed the Transistor which is recognized in the Smithsonian and his name appears on that plaque.
He was dedicated to the Boy Scouts as a member of the Flint Lock, Order of the Arrow and the National Sliver Beaver. He loved to design and build Hi-Fi speakers and Model Rail Road. Bob could always be found working in his yard.
Bob was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Stirling, NJ and opened the church daily for many years.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Irma (Johnson) Mikulyak in 2005, and 2 sisters Ann Estell and Irene Schaper
Bob is survived by his 3 sons Brian, Howard and his wife Susan Gerhardt and Robert Jr. and his wife Patrice, and 2 grandchildren Joel and Katie.
A Memorial Mass will be held in celebration at a date to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, Gillette, NJ. For information and online condolences visit valleymemorialfuneralhome.net
