Obituary for John L "Jack" Davidson

John “Jack” Davidson, 83, of Basking Ridge, passed away peacefully surround by loved ones on July 26, 2020.

He was born in Newark, NJ on December 2nd 1936, a son to the late John Davidson Jr and Helen nee Cadmus, Jack spent most of his life in Basking Ridge, NJ. Mr. Davidson graduated Bernards High in 1956, and joined the National Guard. He also joined and starting working in the Carpenter’s Union Local 155 in Plainfield. He worked for several different places prior to his retirement in 1998, including Ankon Construction. Apon his retirement he went to work at Tamke Tree Experts in Liberty Corner, NJ where he said it was one of his favorite places he had ever worked.

Jack was a carpenter by trade but loved building and fix things. In 1972 he bought a cabin in Upstate NY, which he fixed up. He loved spending time up there. His Model A Pick-Up was his pride and joy. Gardening, working in his woodshop, and playing cards were some of his favorite past time. He loved animals including his yellow labs. Jack was known for wearing his yellow “tape measure” suspenders around Basking Ridge.

Mr. Davidson is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Ruth (nee Lehman), his daughter Candace Davidson of Basking Ridge, his son Michael J. Davidson and wife Leslie of Basking Ridge, his granddaughter Erin who he adored, and his loyal dog Parker.

A memorial visitation and service will be held at a later date.
