Obituary for Paul Joseph Compagnino

Paul Joseph Compagnino passed Saturday, August 29, 2020 in Bridgewater, NJ at the age of 88. Paul was born in Manhattan, New York on October 8, 1931, son of the late Rosaria (DiMaggio) and Giuseppe Compagnino, living in Manhattan, Brooklyn, NY, Old Tappan, Gillette, and Basking Ridge, NJ.

He received a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from St. John's University in Queens, NY.
Paul served in both the United States Marine Corp and the United States Army as a medic, being honorably discharged in 1961. Paul worked as a proud pharmacist for the entirety of his life.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul RC Church Stirling, NJ and a devout catholic. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Adeline (Raniolo) Compagnino. Paul is survived by three daughters, Paula Arbadji-her husband Joseph, JanineThormann-her husband David, Valerie Ford- her husband Jon, and son Joseph Compagnino- wife Sharon. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Justin, Jonathan, Nina, Nicole, Paul, Jack and Zakary. He held many roles throughout his life: husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend.

Paul was an honest, humble, compassionate and loving man who was adored by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Paul loved baseball, specifically the Yankees, was an avid golfer, lover of pasta and Italian food. He compiled recipes to create "The Compagnino Family Cook Books" that were proudly dispersed among family and loved ones. Most importantly, he thought of life as a simple equation. Family + Food + Togetherness = Love.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 3-7 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, Stirling, NJ, at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 3rd, with Father Richard Carton officiating.
