Obituary for Jon Drabyk

Jon E. Drabyk died Tuesday March 9, 2021 at Avalon House on Dominion Crest in Mclean, VA. He was 77.
Jon was born in Elizabeth, NJ on October 10, 1943, a son to the late Elizabeth (Weiszmiller) and Andre' Drabyk, grew up in Linden before moving to Piscataway where he lived for 45 years. He moved to Fairfax, VA 2 years ago.
He was a graduate of Linden High School, and earned a diploma in Commercial Art from the du Cret School in Plainfield, NJ.
Jon worked for over 30 years at Lasky Printing Co. in Rutherford, NJ and retired from Pictorial Offset Corporation in Carlstadt, NJ as a Commercial Printer.
He was a communicant of the Shrine of St. Joseph in Stirling, NJ. In July 1986, he founded the National Air Mail Week Historical Society, publishing 10 quarterly journals until December 1988. He spent years on his research and published a book. That research was later requested by the Smithsonian Postal Museum in Washington DC, to add to their collection.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Ellen (Yurecko) Drabyk, a daughter Kristin Drabyk-Savage and her husband Gary, a brother Andre' Drabyk and a sister Noreen Sytch.
Visitation will be Monday 10:00 - 11:00 AM immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Shrine of St. Joseph 1050 Long Hill Rd., Stirling, NJ. Burial will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ.
