Obituary for Geraldine Zoppi (Concorso)

Geraldine (Concorso) Zoppi, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 12, 2021 at her home in Stirling, NJ. Gerry was born and raised in Newark, NJ, and had resided in Stirling, NJ for the past 49 years. As an adolescent, she excelled in academics and graduated with honors at the top of her high school class. She was also voted “Most Likely to Succeed’ in high school. Upon graduation, Gerry was employed at AT&T in various roles for more than 30 years. Gerry was very active in the Long Hill/Watchung Hills community, and volunteered as team mom and participated in many school functions. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends who were the beneficiaries of her love of cooking many Italian specialties including chicken cutlets, eggplant parmigiana, meatballs with gravy, and pizza. Gerry’s other great joy in life was being with her grandchildren, who grew up knowing that their beloved Nona Gerry was always there – to care for them, to watch their games, and to root them on in all their endeavors.

Gerry was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Philip Zoppi Sr., her mother, Mary Concorso, and two brothers; Anthony Concorso and Mario Concorso. Gerry is survived by her sister, Josephine (Concorso) Balicki of Kunkletown, PA; two sons Philip Jr. and his wife Tracey of Gillette, NJ; Paul and his wife Tammy of Wilmington, DE; a daughter Susan and her fiancé Joe of Stirling, NJ, and four loving grandchildren; Christina, Alyssa, Michelle, and Matthew.
