Obituary for Irene S Labinsky (Sorokowsky)

Irene S. Labinsky (Sorokowsky) died Wednesday May 12, 2021, at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ. She was 95.
Irene was born in Manhattan, NY, on July 5, 1925, a daughter to the late Eugenia (Lazarewicz) and William Sorokowsky, living in Elizabeth and Millington before moving to the Chelsea in Warren, NJ.
She worked as a clerk in the Medical Records Department for Summit Medical Group in Summit, NJ, for over 25 years before retiring.
She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Stirling and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the Long Hill Township Senior Citizens Club, an avid reader, loved to crochet hats for newborns, loved to travel the world with her husband and others, and was a true social butterfly.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 33 years, Michael L. Labinsky, who died in 1987, her sisters, Olga Sorokowsky and Stephanie Murphy, and her daughter-in-law, Lydia.
Irene is survived by her son, Kenneth, her son Richard and his wife Trudy, her three daughters, Barbara and her husband Fernando Ramirez, Daria Labinsky and her husband Stan Hieronymus, and Nancy and her husband Dale Rye, and by eight grandchildren and two great- granddaughters.
A Visitation will be held on May 17, 2021, from 10 - 11 AM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ, followed by a 11:00 AM celebration of words of remembrance. A graveside service will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Stirling NJ, with Fr. Richard Carton officiating.
