Obituary for Charles P "Charlie" Driscoll

Charles P. Driscoll died Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at his home in Meyersville, NJ. He was 82.
Charlie was born in Pelham, NY on November 19, 1939 a son to the late Agnes (Sheiler) and Louis Driscoll, where he lived, moving to Charlotte, NC before moving to the Meyersville section of Long Hill Township in 1967. In retirement he lived in NJ and New Bern, NC.
He was a graduate of Pelham High School, received a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from Colgate University, and received his PhD of Chemistry from Duke University.
Charlie worked as a chemist for Celanese Corporation in Summit, NJ for over 32 years before he retired in 1997. He later taught Chemistry at Craven Community College in New Bern, NC.
He was very involved in youth sports, coaching Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football for many years. He continued to support his grandchildren by rooting for them at their sports games. He also had a passion for education, and was instrumental in teaching children to read at St. Paul's in New Bern, NC.
He was a devout catholic and was a daily communicant at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Stirling, NJ.
He was predeceased by his daughter Suzy Ahlers, and his son Peter Driscoll.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose (Thornton) Driscoll, his son Terry Driscoll and his wife Cari, and 3 daughters Cindy Lewis, Patti Frederick, and Debbie and her husband Andy Matthews. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Sue Driscoll and his son-in-law Walter Ahlers, and 13 grandchildren, Kevin, Katie, David, Julie, Billy, Megan, Andrew, T.J., Elizabeth, Amanda, A.J., Ryan and Timothy.
Visitation for Charlie will be private due to COVID exposure. Interment will be at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Stirling , NJ at 11:00 AM on January 3, 2022.
