Obituary for Joan Elizabeth Coyne (Slifer)
Joan Elizabeth Coyne died Saturday, January 15, 2022 at her home in Millington, NJ. She was 89.
Joan was born in Allentown, PA, a daughter to the late Kathryn Leola (Miles) and Charles Alvin Slifer, living in Plainfield, NJ moving to Millington, NJ 60 years ago.
She was a graduate of Plainfield High School, and received a Bachelors degree in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania.
Joan worked as a Pediatric nurse for Summit Medical Group for over 50 years in New Providence, NJ before retiring.
She was a talented artist and loved to paint and woodwork creating anything from a simple piece of wood, she enjoyed a mossy Scotch and as a young girl liked to ride horses.
Joan was an avid supporter of the ASPCA and children with disabilities,
She was pre-deceased by her 2 children, Michael Wayne Jones, and Michelle Lyn Jones.
Joan is survived by her son Mitchell Charles Coyne and his wife Susan E., Her grandchildren Katlyn Elizabeth Coyne, Timothy Alexander Coyne and Christopher McHugh Coyne. Joan’s younger brother Charles Alvin Slifer, and nieces Jean Elgin and Anne Fortenberry and their families live in Atlanta, GA.
Cremation was private and under the direction of the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, May 14, 2022 From 12 - 2:30 pm at the Primavera Regency 1080 Valley Rd., Stirling, NJ 07980
