Obituary for Marianne W. Greenwald (Wit)

Marianne Greenwald, ESQ. (aged 76) of Naples, FL and Scotch Plains, NJ passed away peacefully on October 30, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was a graduate of both Syracuse University (AB) and Rutgers University School of Law (JD). Mrs. Greenwald served over 20 years as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey, representing the state on multiple professional licensing boards as well as the Office of Drug Control and the Homeland Defense Taskforce. She was a respected and admired member of the New Jersey legal community, who after retiring from the Attorney General’s office, lovingly shared her legal skills with the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) by whom she was later honored for her advocacy work on behalf of abused and neglected children. In 2019, she was appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to the District VIII Ethics Committee. Mrs. Greenwald lived all of her adult years with grace, style and a sharp wit. She was an avid sports lover who never tired of skiing with family in Colorado and waterskiing each summer on Lake George in her beloved Adirondacks. Marianne lived her life at the center of the dance floor, both metaphorically and literally, where she and her husband Art felt most at home. Mrs. Greenwald is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Arthur, and children Meredith and Spencer. She was a loving mother-in-law to Caroline and Rick and a doting Nana to Vanessa, Charlie, Hunter and Harper.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marianne's charity of choice, St. Jude's Children Hospital.
