Obituary for Paul Sherlock Temple

Paul Sherlock Temple (82) died on Monday February 13, 2023 in Morristown, NJ. Paul was born on October 21, 1940. A son to the late Margaret (Sherlock) and James M. Temple, he grew up in Union, NJ. He was a graduate of Oratory Preparatory School class of 1959 and received his bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University in 1963. He and his wife lived in Westfield before moving to Warren in 1984.

Paul started his career at TJ McGlone and Company, owned GCQ Builders and Alps Craftsman and Technology before finally retiring from Sales and Marketing at ITW 10 years ago. He served in the Air National Guard, was a member and retired leader in the People of Hope and served on the Board of Trustees for Koinonia Academy. The most important thing in his life was his faith in God and he was a devout Catholic. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, working in woodcraft and doing puzzles with his wife. He also loved spending time with his children and grand and great-grandchildren. He was a great storyteller.

Paul was predeceased by his siblings: Elizabeth "Betty" Curran, Sarah "Sally" Wickman, Edwin Temple, Margaret Schmidinger and James "Jimmy" Temple. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joan (Schwebel) Temple, his children Jennifer Dodge, Lisa and her husband Michael Yacone, Amanda Temple and her husband Thomas Monaco, Michelle and her husband David Sandomenico, Christopher Sherlock Temple, Jonathan Temple and his wife Kenia, and Michael Temple and his wife Anna. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren Michael Angelo, Rebekah, Elizabeth, Dominic, Christopher, Michael, Matthew, Leala, Trotter, Grace, Dakota, Vincent, Scarlett, Noe, Vera, Primrose, Emma, Jacob and 7 great grandchildren: Zachary, Lilah, Luke, Eloise, Daphne, Michaela and Anne. They all loved him and will miss him tremendously.

Visitation will be Friday, February 17, 2023 from 4 - 8 PM at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church 250 Bebout Ave., Stirling, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church at 10:00 AM of Saturday, February 18, 2023. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Stony Hill Cemetery in Watchung, NJ.
