Obituary for William D "Billy" Oehley

William D. "Billy" Oehley passed away April 28, 2023 at the Lopatcong Center in Phillipsburg, NJ. He was 71.

Billy was born in Easton, PA, on February 25, 1952, a son to the late Sarah Elise (Woodruff) and William F. Oehley where they resided in Millington, NJ before moving to Stroudsburg, PA, 10 years ago.
He was a graduate of Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren, NJ and worked as a school bus driver for Mazzocchi Bus Company in Bernardsville, NJ for 23 years before retiring. He also worked with his father, William F. Oehley, Sr at Trimmer and Haas Auto Repair for many years.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Billy graduated from the Somerset County Fire academy and was a life long member of the Millington Fire Company and the original Long Hill Township First Aid Squad.

Billy had a love for music. He started off playing the organ that was gifted by his mother. Then he learned the drums, keyboard and guitar. He was inspired by the Beatles and the British Invasion. He was a big fan of Jethro Tull. He loved to spend his weekends with friends and family having musical jams and recording his own music.

He loved to travel. He visited the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls and the Gettysburg Battlefields. He had a passion for baseball. He was the Yankees number one fan. His favorite vacation was visiting Cooperstown for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Billy was also a NY Giants Fan and enjoyed watching Nascar.

Billy is survived by his step-daughters, Mary Ann Beltz and Deborah La Porte. His step grandchildren Marc R. Beltz and Gabrielle Cochrane. His cousins Adele Oehley Johnston, her daughter Melissa Auriemma and her husband Robert, Robert & Angela Oehley, Betty Shuman & Mary Ethel Oehley Nielsen.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM with prayers and words of remembrance at 11:30 AM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home. The address is 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. Burial will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park. Located at 95 Mt. Airy Rd., Basking Ridge NJ.
