Daniel R. Cassese died peacefully Saturday, August 26, 2023 at home in Millington, NJ, surrounded by family. He was 102.
Daniel was born in Elizabeth, NJ on April 23, 1921, a son to the late Clementine (Franciotti) and Pasquale Cassese. He lived in Rahway, NJ before moving to Millington 28 years ago.
A WWII Veteran, Daniel served in the Army in the European Campaign from September 1942 thru December 1945.
Daniel worked as a Chemical Operator for GAF in Linden, NJ for over 38 years before retiring in 1986. He volunteered at JFK Hospital and the Lyons, VA and was an avid sports fan, cheering for his favorite teams, the Yankees, Giants and Rangers. He loved to travel the states and abroad, and spending time at the Jersey Shore. Most important was being around family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Anna (DiBlasio) Cassese in 1987, his sister Theresa, and brother-in-law Joseph Brodowski, his brother Raphael Cassese and his wife Mary, his brother Albert Cassese and his wife Patricia.
Daniel is survived by his son Daniel G. Cassese, his daughter Marie Cassese and her husband James E. Hoagland, his grandchildren Andrew Cassese and his wife Brittany, and great granddaughter Scarlett Elizabeth Cassese, and his granddaughter Danielle and her husband Andrew Brucker.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 31. 2023 from 3:30 - 7:30 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, 1012 Valley Road, Gillette, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, September 1, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, 250 Bebout Ave., Stirling, NJ. Entombment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Elizabeth, NJ.
