Stella B. McMonagle
Nearly 99 Millington, N.J.
On August 31, 2023, the world lost an amazing, strong, polish woman, Stella (nee Buziak) McMonagle. She has been reunited with the love of her life, John McMonagle who had the nerve to predecease her in 2015. Aunt Stella, the good looking one, was the last of her generation. She was a strong accomplished career woman in the days of a male dominated work world. She was employed as an executive by New Jersey Bell for the majority of her career and provided inspiration to her many nieces of what a smart, confident and somewhat stubborn woman was capable of doing. Stella and John enjoyed their life together, especially their over thirty years in retirement.
Stella was one of nine children of Ignatious and Anna Buziak. She outlived her siblings, Stanley, Siggy, Blanche, Frank, Marge, Helen and Jean and their spouses. While she had no children of her own, she helped her brother and sisters raise their children. She is survived by many nieces and nephews – the Matechak’s, the Schubauer’s, the Norton’s, the McMonagle’s, the Turner’s, and the Sheedy’s. We all owe her many thanks for the wonderful childhood memories of Christmas presents at Babci’s, summer vacations in Lavallette, bad haircuts and unconditional support, love and advice as we became adults. We are all grateful to Irene for the care and companionship she provided to Aunt Stella in her later years.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, from 9:30am to 11am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 249 Bebout Avenue, Stirling, New Jersey. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11AM with internment to follow at the St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Stella’s name to the St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 249 Bebout Avenue, Stirling, New Jersey. St Vincent’s was an integral part of her life, and she maintained close relationships with its priests and nuns, especially Father Richard and Sr. Elsa.
Valley Memorial Funeral Home, 1012 Valley Road, Gillette, New Jersey kindly made all the arrangements.
