Obituary for Maria Sasso (Guadagno)
Maria (Guadagno) Sasso died Friday, September 29, 2023 at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ. She was 86.
Maria was born in Avellino, Italy, a daughter to the late Rosa (Palma) and Pietro Guadagno on May 24, 1937. She immigrated to Newark, NJ in 1964, living in Colonia, NJ before moving to Basking Ridge in 2018.
She was employed as a seamstress, then later at a cosmetics company. Maria loved cooking delicious Italian foods, enjoyed travel, especially going back to her home country of Italy to visit family and friends. She will always be remembered for her strong work ethic, loving heart and her witty sense of humor.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Aniello Sasso, her 2 daughters Nina and her husband Michael Lehman, and Roseanna and her husband Mark Schottenfeld from Basking Ridge.
Her siblings Pasquale, Gilda and Franco Guadagno from Como, Italy. Grandchildren, Julia, Isabelle, Lauren and Nicole.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 5 - 8 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Road, Gillette, NJ. A Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 4, 2023 10:30 AM at the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Union, NJ.
