Obituary for Janet M Rooney (Holland)
Janet Mary Rooney died Monday, October 23, 2023 at Fellowship Senior Living in Basking Ridge, NJ at the age of 90.
She was born in Newark, NJ on February 17, 1933; a daughter to the late Anna (Schof) and William Holland. Prior to moving to Basking Ridge over 20 years ago, she lived in Cape May and a number of other locations in New Jersey during her lifetime. Janet graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Newark, and worked as a homemaker caring for her 4 children and her husband. She was an avid sports fan cheering for her favorite football teams, the NY Giants and Notre Dame. During her years at Fellowship Senior Living, she was a communicant at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church in Stirling.
Janet was predeceased by her husband Richard Patrick Rooney in 2006. She is survived by 4 children and their spouses; Doreen & her husband John Amorosa, John Rooney & his wife Maria, Kevin Rooney & his wife Peggy, Erin & her husband Peter Eckel, as well as 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a sister Eleanor Caruso.
Visitation will be Friday October 27, 2023 from 4:30 pm - 7:30 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Road, Gillette, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday October 28, 2023 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, Stirling, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Stirling.
