Retired bank vice president, tax preparer, of Stirling, 81
Philip Zoppi Sr., 81, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2011, at Overlook Hospital in Summit surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Philip was born and raised in Newark, NJ, and had resided in Stirling, NJ for the past 39 years. He was employed at the Howard Savings Bank as a computer programmer for 30 years. Upon retiring from the bank in 1990, Philip embarked on a second career working as a tax preparer for H&R Block for 21 years.
Philip enjoyed being actively involved in many community events such as working for the local election board, serving as the Longhill Township Community Center Treasurer for many years, and volunteering at the Shrine of Saint Joseph.
Philip is survived by his wife of 49 years, Geraldine; two sons Philip Jr. and his wife Tracey of Gillette, NJ; Paul and his wife Tammy of Wilmington, DE; a daughter Susan of Stirling, NJ, and four loving grandchildren; Christina, Alyssa, Michelle, and Matthew.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, 1012 Valley Road, Gillette, NJ 07933 on Monday, April 11, from 2 to 4pm, and 7 to 9pm. Services will be Tuesday April 12, 9:30 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass celebrated at 11am at the Shrine of Saint Joseph, 1050 Long Hill Road, Stirling, NJ 07980.
