Juan Carlos Cruz-Vasquez died Saturday October 29, 2016 at his home in Jersey City, NJ. He was 40.
Juan Carlos was born on July 23, 1976 in Colombia, a son to his parents Zaida Vasquez and Hector Fabio Cruz. He immigrated in 1990 to Perth Amboy, NJ where he attended and graduated from Perth Amboy H.S. He recieved his BA from Rutgers University in Criminal Justice.
Juan Cruz worked as a Spanish Teacher and was the Head JV and Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach at Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren, NJ for the last 12 years. An avid soccer fan he cheered for Barcelona!
He was predeceased by his sister Johana Cruz in 2012.
Juan Carlos is survived by his wife Clare Anne Cruz (Dill), his unborn son due in March, his parents, his grandmother Maria Teresa Cruz-Bolanos, his 2 brothers Hector Fabio "Uncle Junior" Cruz, and Roger Cruz and his wife Ximena Vargas. Visitation will be Friday November 4, 2016 from 4 - 8 pm at St. Vincent de Paul RC Church, 250 Bebout Ave., Stirling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 10:30 AM at the church. The Watchung Hills Regional Education Association Helping Hands fund is a direct donation to the Cruz family in order to help them with their financial needs in this difficult time.
