Obituary for Nancy Lewis Hartmann

Nancy Lewis  Hartmann
Nancy Lewis Hartmann passed away Saturday February 4, 2017 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. She was 73.
Nancy was born in Memphis, TN on February 12, 1943, a daughter of the late Harriet Jonas and Leo Lewis. She graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ and received a BA in English and French Literature from Douglas College at Rutgers University.
She lived and worked in New York City for several years after college before moving back to NJ where she met and married Thomas Hartmann III in 1970, and eventually moved to Gillette, New Jersey, where she raised 3 children and cared for 2 step children (and many others who crossed her threshold) for 44 years until moving to New Providence.
During that time, she worked for several companies but ultimately became the Marketing Director at New Jersey Ballet in Livingston, NJ for the last 25 Years.
She was a published author, enjoyed traveling independently, and was an avid reader.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Edwin Hartmann III in 1995, and is survived by her son, Ansel W. Hartmann and his wife Paulina A., two daughters, Amy H. and her husband Michael J. Ohlson, and Abigail H. and her husband Raphael dos Santos, and her step children, Karl Hartmann and Karen Hartmann. She had two brothers, Peter Lewis and David Lewis.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alison, Bianca, Aydan, Alexa, Desmond, Charlotte, Nathan, and Gabriel
Memorial Visitation will be Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 3:00 pm followed by a celebration of life service at 4:00 pm at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. Cremation was private.
