Obituary for Irva J Kirchheim (Whightman)


Irva J. Kirchheim (Wightman) died Wednesday April 8, 2015 at her home in Lopatcong Township, NJ. She was 91.
Irva was born in Baldwinsville, NY on January 26, 1924 a daughter to the late Millicent (Kinne) and Norman K. Wightman living in New Vernon, NJ before moving to Millington, NJ in 1946.
She was a graduate of Morristown High School and worked as a Cost Accountant for Monroe Calculating Machine Company in Morristown before retiring in 1947 to stay at home and raise her family as a homemaker. The Oaks Road house was home for 61 years. She also worked at Hooper Holmes Bureau, Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge from 1970-1975.
Irva was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Millington, NJ, was on the Ladies Auxiliary for the Millington Fire Company, and volunteered for the Millington First Aid Squad. She was a member of the Long Hill Township Seniors and volunteered at R.S.V.P. She and her husband hosted Wightman/Kirchheim family reunions.​

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 60 years Howard Kirchheim in 2005.
Irva is survived by 3 daughters Nancy and her husband Lawrence Rubin, Janet and her husband Donald Will, Susan Kirchheim, 1 son Roger Kirchheim and his wife Denise, 7 grandchildren Sara, Alyson, Wade, Jacqie, David, Matty and Greg, and 3 great granddaughters Anola, Kiera and Chiana.
Services will be Wednesday April 15, 2015 11:00 AM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. Interment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be Tuesday 6-8 PM and Wednesday 10:30 - 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. For more information and online condolences visit www.valleymemorialfuneralhome.net
