Obituary for Anthony Russell Prasa Sr.

Anthony Russell Prasa Sr.
Celebrating the Life of Anthony Russell Prasa, Sr.

Anthony Russell Prasa, Sr. (aka Tony, aka Babe, aka Fred) of Millington, NJ passed into eternal peace on May 6, 2017, surrounded by his family.

A loving husband, proud father, adoring grandfather, and fiercely loyal friend, Tony will be remembered by all who knew him for his immense joy of life, his unwaiveringly positive attitude, and his boundless generosity of spirit. He made everyone feel like they were part of his family, and brought smiles and laughter to everyone he met.

Tony was born in Hillside, NJ on April 30, 1938, to parents Peter and Delia Prasa. He attended Hillside Public Schools, and the Teachers College of New Jersey. After serving in the US Army, he joined his childhood friend in business as the first employee at the Donjon Marine Company, where he worked for over 50 years. In his recent return to work, after a short illness, he continued to counsel others at Donjon Marine, generously sharing his years of experience in the marine salvage industry.

Tony enjoyed many hobbies and interests, including gardening, traveling - especially to Italy, savoring fine food and wine, and listening to all varieties of music – from rock to Rossini and everything in between. He was an avid fan of the NY Giants, the NY Yankees, and every team that his children were ever part of. In recent years, he happily described himself as a “professional spectator” of his grandchildren’s dance, arts, and sporting events, and was known for his performances as a self-proclaimed “world-renowned” magician at his grandchildren’s birthday parties.

Tony was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Stephen, and his sister, Angela. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, Carol, his children and their spouses, Teri (Joe), Tracy (Jerry) and Russ (Shengy), and his grandchildren, Delia, Amelia, Gerard, Rowland, and Emily.

The family welcomes visitors on Wednesday, May 10, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 15 Basking Ridge Rd., Millington, NJ. A Funeral Service be will be held on Thursday May, 11, at 5:00pm, also at All Saints’ Episcopal Church. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Anthony R. Prasa, Sr. Watchung Hills Scholarship Fund, c/o All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 15 Basking Road, Millington, NJ 07946.

To honor his memory, Tony would ask that you have kind words or a silly joke at the ready to cheer up a friend, and that you perform a random and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in need.
