Zari Shafaie passed away Friday February 23, 2018 at her home in Millington, NJ. She was 92.

Zari was born in Tehran, Iran a daughter to the late Fakhrozaman (Geranpayeh) and Mirza Hassan khan Afrassiabian. She immigrated in 1997 to the United States, lived in Springfield, NJ and eventually settled in Millington 10 years ago.

She was devoted to her family as a homemaker with high energy and a free spirit. Her presence and sharp humor always elevated the occasion for everyone around her. She was a member of the Banou Persian Senior Citizens in Englewood, NJ, and was an avid reader.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Davood Shafaie in 1997.

Zari is survived by her 2 sons; Feraydoon and his wife Mina, and Farrokh Shafaie MD and his wife Haleh; 2 daughters Fereshteh Shafaie and Farideh and her husband Feraydoon Hamidi; a sister Azizeh Nooryani; 11 grandchildren: Yassi, Nanaz, Shirin, Sara, Mehrdad, Kamy, Yassi, Dara, Donna, Maryam and Kia and a great grandson Kamyar Ryan.

Family will greet relatives and friends Tuesday February 27, 2018 from 10:30 – 12:30 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, located at 1012 Valley Road, Gillette, NJ. A Graveside Service will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park at 1:00PM.
